Morinville boards and committees are comprised of Council representative, members of public and organization/group representatives. Each year, Town Council appoints members of our community to serve on municipal boards and committees. This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to take part in the decision making process on issues that affect our Town.

Generally, Council representatives serve one-year terms and members of public and organization/group representatives serve three-year terms (unless otherwise directed by bylaw or Council resolution). Members can be reappointed for successive terms. Recruitment takes place every Fall for terms that take effect November 1.

All applications will be reviewed and candidates will be invited to attend an interview on the evening of October 1 or 3, 2024.

Applications will be open August 26 to September 22 at 11:55 p.m.


2024 Openings

Assessment Review Board (two) members of public vacancy
Handles appeals with respect to assessments conducted on property within the Municipality.

  • 3-year term.
  • Meets as required by the receipt of appeals (typically September to October).

Community Services Advisory Committee (one) member of public vacancy and (one) organizational member vacancy
Acts in an advisory capacity to Council on matters pertaining to the social well-being of our residents in Sport and Recreation; Family and Community Support Services; and Culture and Events.

  • 3-year term.
  • Meets monthly for approximately 2 hours per month.

Public Committee members are individuals from the community who apply in a personal capacity and represent the general public's interest, providing input on a wide range of community-related issues. No formal affiliation with a specific organization is required, making this role ideal for residents who are passionate about improving the quality of life in Morinville.

Organizational Committee members are representatives of specific associations or groups within the community. These members bring forward the perspectives and needs of their organization, ensuring that the voices of local groups are considered in discussions. Organizational Committee members must be nominated by their organizations and supply a letter of support that includes:

  • Name of the applicant and their role in the organization/group.
  • Reason why the organization/group nominates this person to represent them.
  • Signature from a member of the executive (Chair, Vice-chair, Treasurer, etc.) with their position in the organization.

Morinville Public Library Board (two) members of public vacancy
Carries out direction as stated in the Library Act. Organizes, promotes and maintains comprehensive and efficient library services.

  • 3-year term
  • Meets monthly for approximately 3 hours per month

Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (one) member of public vacancy
Hears appeals following decisions of the Planning Commission or Development Officer regarding development permits and subdivision applications.

  • 2-year term
  • Meets as required by the receipt of appeals.
