- DATE OF PARADE:
The Parade takes place on Saturday, November 28, 2026, beginning at 5:30 p.m. sharp.
- STAGING:
The parade route starts on 100 Avenue near the Circle K/Grandin Drive 4-way stop. Please enter the parade lineup at the Grandin 4-way stop (see map below). The route travels west down 100 Avenue, ending at 103 Street; entrants will turn right onto 103 Street at the end of the route to disperse. Entrants may enter lineup as early as 4:30 p.m., and must be in line by 5 p.m. The Parade Coordinator will be onsite to check entrants in and confirm driver's license, registration and insurance. Please do not change your position unless asked to do so by a Parade Official.
- PARADE EXPECTATIONS:
While parade participation is open to anyone, parade entries should celebrate and reflect the history, culture, and spirit of our community. For this reason, commercial messaging must NOT dominate the entry. Parade officials can, at their discretion, reject a Parade entry that is not tasteful, does not meet the general purpose of the Parade, is blatantly commercial, or is deemed offensive.
Completing the Participation Form serves as your agreement to abide by all rules, regulations and decisions of the Parade officials.
- CONDUCT AND MOVEMENT:
To maintain parade flow and safe sightlines, maintain a maximum of TWO car lengths (24 ft) between entries. Please move your entry to the center of the highway before approaching 99 Street/Sobeys (after you pass the center meridian). Please do not stop on 103 Street to drop off passengers; stopping creates congestion for the parade flow. Remember, you may NOT change line-up position unless directed to do so by a Parade Official.
- THROWING/HANDOUTS:
If you have giveaways, you must have walkers to hand items directly to guests CURBSIDE. Throwing of any item from the Parade entry, on the street along the Parade route, or on the ground near spectators is PROHIBITED.
- HELMETS:
Riders/passengers of any bicycle, scooter, skateboard, motorcycle, ATV or other similar vehicle or device must wear an approved helmet.
- PARADE UNIT HEIGHT:
The unit cannot have an element higher than 12 feet from the ground to provide clearance from overhead wires and traffic lights.
- PARADE UNIT LENGTH:
40 feet maximum single piece length, inclusive of articulated towing unit.
- INSURANCE, REGISTRATION and LICENSING:
Cars, trucks, motorcycles, antique or vintage cars, or any other vehicle must have valid insurance and a Vehicle Registration Certificate to operate on the road and must be operated by a licensed operator. Parade participants should be prepared to provide the Parade Coordinator (or designate) with a copy of your driver's licence, valid proof of insurance and/or a valid Vehicle Registration Certificate.
PARADE WEATHER
If temperatures reach -25°C with or without wind chill, the parade will be cancelled to ensure the safety of participants, volunteers, and staff.
A final decision regarding the parade will be made on Friday, November 27 at 12 p.m. Updates will be posted on the Town of Morinville website and shared through official social media channels.
SAFETY:
- Items CANNOT be thrown. (see item 5).
- The discharge of fireworks or firearms is PROHIBITED.
- Alcoholic beverages or Cannabis are not permitted on or around the entry, or on the parade route.
- Individuals and organizations in the Parade and in the staging area are expected to act courteously, in good taste, with safety in mind AT ALL TIMES during the formation, execution and dismissal of the Parade. Once an entry has been started down the Parade route, riders must stay on board; do not get off and on.
- Barriers, stands, or handholds are required for float riders.
- Town Staff (or designees) reserve the right to inspect and approve or disqualify any towing packages, entries or floats for any fire or safety hazard. Entries constructed of flammable material are required to have a Class ABC extinguisher on board. All participants will be required to correct any deficiencies before they can participate in the Parade.
Important Reminders:
Enter the parade lineup from the following 1, 2, 3 entry points as per the map below, noted by orange arrows. Town Staff will direct you into the lineup.
Do not enter the parade lineup via U-turn from 100 Avenue, noted by the red X on the map.
Entry/floats are NOT to enter the Morinville Community Cultural Centre Parking Lot from 101 Avenue or 100 Avenue. Do not bring entries/floats to the Morinville Community Cultural Centre/Parking Lot. Please follow the instructions above to enter the parade lineup.
Those who need to park and walk to their parade entry/float up may enter the Morinville Community Cultural Centre Parking Lot from 101 Avenue.
The route travels west down 100 Avenue, ending at 103 Street. Entrants will turn right onto 103 Street at the end of the route to disperse.
Please do not stop on 103 Street to let off passengers, for safety reasons and to avoid traffic congestion.
