Appointment to Morinville Boards/Committees Application Form

Morinville boards and committees are comprised of Council representatives, members of the public, and representatives of organizations or groups. Each year, Morinville Council appoints community members to serve on municipal boards and committees. This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to take part in the decision-making process on issues that affect our community.

Generally, Council representatives serve one-year terms and members of the public and organization/group representatives serve three-year terms (unless otherwise directed by bylaw or Council resolution). Members can be reappointed for successive terms. Recruitment takes place every fall for terms that take effect January 1, 2027.

Applications for 2026 are open from Tuesday, September 1 to September 30 at 11:55 p.m.

All applications will be reviewed, and selected candidates will be invited to attend an interview October 6-8, 2026 (tentatively).

2026 Openings

Assessment Review Board (one) member of public vacancy
Description: Hears appeals following decisions on matters relating to property assessments or other matters on an assessment or tax notice.

• 3-year term
• Meets as required by the receipt of appeals.

Community Services Advisory Committee (one) member of a local organizations/ groups*
Description: Acts in an advisory capacity to Council on matters pertaining to the social well-being of our residents in Sport and Recreation; Family and Community Support Services; and Culture and Events.
*Member of a Local Organization/Group Description: A member nominated by a local organization or community group who brings the perspective and experience of Morinville’s community organizations to the Committee. This member helps identify community needs, service gaps, emerging trends and opportunities related to sport and recreation, family and community support services, culture and events, while contributing to the Committee’s advice and recommendations to Council.)

• 3-year term
• Meets every 2 months for approximately 2 hours per month

Morinville Library Board (two) members of public vacancy
Description: Carries out direction as stated in the Library Act. Organizes, promotes and maintains comprehensive and efficient library services.

• 3-year term
• Meets monthly for approximately 3 hours per month

Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (one) member of public vacancy
Description: Hears appeals following decisions of the Planning Commission or Development Officer regarding development permits and subdivision applications.

• 2-year term
• Meets as required by the receipt of appeals.
